The power of Dark Energy may be increasing as the universe ages. Subtle clues are emerging that the accepted model for the nature of dark energy and dark matter may not be all that. We saw the first such clue recently in our recent episode on the Crisis in Cosmology. Today we’re doing a Space Time Journal Club to reveal another clue. We’re looking at a new paper in Nature Astronomy, “Cosmological constraints from the Hubble diagram of quasars at high redshifts” by Risaliti and Lusso. It hints that the cosmological constant may not be so constant after all. In fact it may be increasing. If this is true, then our prediction for the future of our universe looks VERY different, and may involve the entire universe tearing itself to shreds at the subatomic level in the Big Rip.
On this edition of Space Time Journal Club we look at:

Is the acceleration of the universe constant is all directions or is there areas where the expansion is faster that other areas? I ask because what if instead of the universe expanding, what if it's instead being pulled toward something or multiple something's farther out than we can see or detect? Or can the big bang actually be the exit point of a white hole that's growing in intensity therefore causing the "expansion" to speed up & if so, what's the universe expanding into & again maybe it's being pushed & pulled simultaneously toward other supermassive black holes basically circulating the material in the universe all as one huge supermassive universe that's churning in & out of white holes & black holes.

Has anyone considered that it is not dark energy that is growing stronger, but rather that the surface area of the universe is expanding so therefore the effect that dark energy has on it is growing exponentialy?
Жавланбек Овчинников
Suppose there is a variant of accelerated expansion of the visible universe inward. This will make us understand the work; quantum gravity, dark energy, black hole physics ... As a physical model, we need to use spherical quantum "rosebuds" consisting of different quantum membranes with their work center. g55ton.narod.ru

That would depend on what part of the galaxy or, the universe you live in. Dark matter and dark energy are strongest at the perimeter and the black hole core of a galaxy, respectively... due to the congestion and flow of electron gravity I have revised my thesis to be more concise and put it back on the shelf for posterity. There are no technology's available to prove the theory, at least for now. Science is not religion! THEORY OF EVERYTHING Revised The elucive electron is the "God" particle. They fuse into quarks and heavier particles when electron expansion fields of dark energy collide along their perimeters. The rest is physics. Physics is the study of atoms, which are "encompassed" by electron orbitals. Electrons(fundamental particle) and electromagnitsm(created by the flow of electrons through matter), make up everything in a universe of matter. It's the basis of simplicity itself (not unlike my state of mind) to assume that the electron is by far the most probable fermion for the particle of dark energy. Einstein was right, E=MC^ and applies only within the gravity field of a galaxy. Dark Matter is a congestion of electrons beign attracted to the protons and encompassing the galaxies. Electrons further out are swept away and return to thier natural repulsion of other singularity electrons and increase the expansion. It's an exchange of energy between the "capacitance" of the expanding electron fields and the creations of the universe by the release of "kinetic" electrons from a stored capicitor and fusing electrons into quarks and gavity fields of matter in the flow of "relative" time. It's all about interactions in electron "energy conservation" fields of gravity, protected within a membrane of a galaxy's vortex around a black hole through electromagnetism.. Gravity is simply the flow of electrons toward the attractions of protons & neutron neucli within atoms and it is the same attraction, on a much larger scale, of a superconducting black hole. The unverse of matter is within a mebrane of protection from the expansion around it by the congestion of dark matter electrons as a photon. The entropy of matter's information is stored or, imprinted in the superconducting black hole. Electrons flow though it and the galaxy eventually collapses into the black hole and releases its plasma back into the expanse as quasars.

I have watched around 5 videos from PBS SPace Time and it got me thinking, as dark energy contorts, compounds, extracts, and contracts with tension, that dark matter isn't a physical mass but the energy involved to create stability. I think of it like a Machine, connected and due to its tension will create (like tectonic plates generally do) moments of collapses to veer toward other mass. (like the electricity ball thing!) Excuse my ignorance but this always spoke to me. Thanks for reading.

First, all the calculations are littered with errors. So it should be accepted that the all the math is questionably wrong. Secondly, dark energy and dark matter does not exist. It should be understood that both Dark Energy and Dark Matter are fill ins to account for so called missing matter. W have so much wrong from our observations that we have completely failed to recognize that we are observing a warped universe.

I struggle to try and follow what you are saying some of the time. But my six year old son says dark energy equals dark matter times 54 times the speed of light squared while trying to support his belief in the big rip and then starts talking about the space between the nucleus and electrons of atoms. Then, after his big rip, there is a new big bang. ???

OK, stuff attracts stuff and the lack of stuff repels stuff; I can live with that. More lack of stuff means more repelling stuff. Wouldn't that require different values throughout the universe, and I don't see how that translates to sub-atomic disruption. Just asking, I've not a clue, but I don't believe gravity needs a force-carrying particle. If it did, how would gravity escape a black hole. I do wish they'd stop resurrecting Einstein's Cosmological Constant to describe these new findings; once Hubble released his findings the CC wasn't needed. I think the name is just too good to not use somewhere.

If dark matter is really an unknown subatomic particle, could that particle be decaying? If so the difference between the expected and observed expansion could give us a value for the half life of dark matter. Also, there should be some kind of decay product, some kind of radiation observable on a galactic scale, perhaps coming from the regions of space where dark matter “overshoots” its host galaxy when there are galactic collisions.

i say there is no dark energy or dark matter. its just not yet understood spacetime effects. one thing that seems to be underrated is the point of view. another the assumption that there was no time before the big bang. for sure, in an singularity time seems to be non existent. maybe its just unmeasureable slow. i also dont believe that singularites are super dense tiny spots, i think singularities are as big as their event horizon goes. since black holes are singularities, and might have no measureable time behind the event horizon it doesnt mean there is no time and space outside of them. we actualy live to see that there is spacetime around. well, the opposite of a singularity would be complete empty, unlimited space with unmeasureable fast time. i believe thats what one could say is dark energy. matter at the empty edge is moving into unmeasureable fast time, slowing it down, spreading out. it means the more it spreads, the less is the effect of slowing down, or watching from one spot, it looks speeding up. now i come to dark matter. its the opposite effect of dark energy. the misinterpreted gravitation is caused by time slowing down in higher dense areas. its such effects that in my understanding causes matter to rotate. as example, the matter inside earth is more compressed than on the outside. it means the earth core is slowed down in time, while the outside time goes faster. it also means the space is compressed increasingly the further you go to the core. thats why things move faster the further you go away from the core: i see spacetime also as something that can undergo the physical states influenced by gravity. no gravitational effects from mass = no spacetime (better, unlimited space and unmeasureable fast time) thin mass spread around = gas (takes large space, measureable time) compressed mass = liquid (like gasclouds) higher compressed mass = solid (like planets, stars) singularity mass = plasma (black holes, unmeasureable slow time) i think all this could also explain, why there is an observeable universe. while the matter spreads out in the unlimited space with unmeasureable fast time, we are also in the grip of singularities(and their gathered surroundings combined gravitation), that slows us (on our pov) down in time, what also could give the illusion that things further away move away at an increasing speed. it could just mean, that we someday at our pov/spot will be sucked into a singularity. now i want to jump to white holes. i think that white holes are black holes that just exploded. call it a big bang. for me its an ongoing process. if you could sit in tiny spot in the unlimited space with no measureable fast time, causing no gravitational effects with super low mass, you might see universes born and expanding like fireworks. i also think that light/photons are not massless. photons might have an (for us) unmeasureable small smass or at some point, energy somewhat equals mass. thats why the speed of photons is ~ 300000 km/s. if mankind in future will be able to travel space by manipulating gravity, enabling us to travel faster then the speed of light, without the effects of time dilation, we could travel to the observable edge of the universe. and i bet that we will see just more galaxies appearing the further we move. and maybe, if there realy is an edge to the unlimited void, we could travel into it and see extreme time dilation effects. those are things im constantly thinking around for years, and its hard to write down my thoughts. it also changes the more i read about space and time. this all is also just my theory.

Can you make a show to explain how the force behind Dark Flow can affect galaxies over such huge distances? According to Albert Einstein theory of relativity with respect to gravitational force, isn't Dark Flow a sign that space has a huge sinkhole spread out of a huge distance and it creates Dark Flow? Space is not flat!

Interesting paper, but I don't quite buy the averaged out values of z-M. The error bars are pretty huge of the measurements themselves and the difference between the currently accepted Lambda=Const. model and the empirically derived Lambda seems within 2Sigma of each point. It'd be really nice to see similar analysis based on much better data. p.s. Thanks for the videos. Great stuff.

How do you explain the Big Bang with a constant Λ, anyways? Was Λ gigantic enough at the Big Bang to rip quarks apart? Is Λ just a dial on God's controller that can be changed, freely or is it programmed to evolve to keep the universe flat? Does an empty vacuum with nothing in it evolve over time, when dark energy is considered? Even in a flat universe, couldn't parts be hyperbolic and some hyperspherical? Could enough black holes in one spot close part of an otherwise flat universe off, making a hypersphere? How would that work or would this be the definition of inside an event horizon?!?!!

We know objects close to black holes are experiencing tidal forces which as result torn apart this object. This effect getting stronger and stronger as body is getting closer and closer to the black hole. Now let's assume this body is our universe falling into gigantic black hole which is outside of our observable universe and of the size many many times of our universe (million times). From our perspective we will see our universe (body) experiencing Big Rip and this effect is getting bigger and bigger with time

Has any theory considered the Universe as having poles? What I mean by this is something like the North and South poles of a planet but on a universal scale. Consider each universal pole to be analogous to a black hole and a white hole, where we see a rapid expansion from the 'big bang' as the white hole pole, and the distant observable universe accelerating away from us into a distant 'big crunch' as the black hole pole. A gigantic structure that spans beyond our observable universe, but we only see a local phenomenon of the observable universe expanding away from us and we try to explain this with Dark Energy?

Those two Nobel winning teams that 'wrote the text book on dark energy' (as you put it) in the early 90s, overlooked the most ubiquitous cosmological quality, neglecting to include it in their calculations, which would have shown that universal expansion was SLOWING not increasing. They make incorrect assumptions looking back thru time 14-15 billion years ago matter and the laws of physics operated the same as now with no dilation ? Looking back at the early universe it should be expanding fast from the big bang and slowed down later by gravitational forces of mass when gravity was established ! There is no dark matter energy only the universe before physical laws were fully established and what they see happening back then is not the laws today, change set in over some time ! The early universe had little matter to absorb the great energy from the beginning , later the mass assumed physical laws of attraction and absorbed the energy to slow down the Galaxies enough to be stable ! What they are seeing is not even happening today , its 15 billion years ago ! No intuition in science is used only cold incorrect math lacking all the laws of the universe ! Only some laws are known , we are infants at cosmology as intuition has been left behind and no insight is used in science academia in cosmology today and they are more lost than they ever hoped to be lol ! Corona Fusion is the correct theory of our Sun not core fusion and the data is right in front of them but they are blinded by a failed theory to protect science academia from being very wrong from the start ? Cosmology is a farce in many areas and it takes genius to invent a invisible energy dark matter to explain away there failings because you cannot disprove the invisible ! See how science academia works , so now they say it takes 40,000 years for photons at our Suns core to reach the surface of the Sun to explain away the very low surface temperature on the Sun ???? Genius to invent a theory to protect your failed theory so the public cannot see the mistaken theories in our textbooks ? Once you wake up and see the truth you see how little we know and how what has been portrayed as fact is false science and still in textbooks ! No morals allowed because science must be protected from itself by inventing theories that cannot be disproved ! Dark Matter is just such a invention , because they are lost without a clue of intuition ? Dimensional travel and traveling past the speed of light is possible , but you must create a field around a craft the blocks subatomic entanglement that lets the craft have zero mass in our space dimension and blocking our physical laws is all it takes but few people can even think this is possible ? Once you see a UFO your mind opens up very much , and the reality sets in we are to be deceived completely from the truth as science has zero morals !

I think that there could be a possible error in the interpretation of the redshift increase from the quasar measurement, the dark energy being observed getting stronger around using these quasars could be the black hole expanding space by condensing energy to negative energy. There must be a way to measure this dark energy increase in relation to a few relative nearby black holes to one another and the red shift observed between there varying masses and amount of matter being consumed via the size of its accretion disc, assuming that something will be observed by this would give us an approximation of how much new space/dark energy is being created from the amount energy being converted in s black hole
